ABOUT

Hi there! My name is Maggie.

Iced coffee is my beverage of choice (no matter what time of day it is) and I'm always down for a workout class (if you're booking one for us, my preferences are a spin class or anything involving high-intensity dance/upbeat music). I am an avid reader and journaler. You will never see me consume vanilla ice cream - it will always be chocolate (preferably with the words "extreme" or "death by" in the title). My favorite color is sage green, though most of the clothing in my closet is black, denim, or some variation of white/beige.

I majored in Psychology in college because I developed a fascination with the brain during my pre-requisite classes that I could never quite pinpoint. The idea that the very thing that allows us to ponder, imagine, and analyze would be incapable of understanding itself has always and will always baffle me. Turns out, the discipline of Psychology is ever-evolving, and my interest expanded beyond brain areas and neural pathways to an interest in learning more about the connections between the brain and other things - like our physical body, the spirit/soul/energy, and with other humans.

These questions have led me down a winding, interdisciplinary path of exploring the intersections of exercise/movement as medicine (hence, why I became a yoga instructor), philosophy, nutrition and nourishment, and public health. Currently, my day job is in policy analysis in the nonprofit sector. I analyze how systems and policy decisions on the state and federal levels impact people – and advocate for necessary changes. All in all, I would sum up my career and life interests with the term ‘well-being.’

I started this blog as an outlet to put thoughts on paper (or screen, rather),  share resources, and build community. In addition to having enriching conversations about the brain & the body, I’m also incredibly interested in and passionate about yoga, health & fitness, and a ‘wellness’ lifestyle (though I know that's a buzzword).

This is a space to be curious about all the things & enjoy while doing so.

I'm so glad you're here!
All my love.
